Cariboo Chilcotin Land Use Plan

Mule Deer Winter Range Strategy

Introduction

The CCLUP Management Strategy for Mule Deer Winter Ranges in the Cariboo-Chilcotin is designed to guide forest harvest planning to restore and maintain mule deer winter range habitat suitability. It is the culmination of the sustained research and planning efforts of many people over the past 25 years. The Strategy provides practical direction for planning and practices at both the landscape and stand levels to integrate mule deer habitat values with industrial timber development.

The Cariboo-Chilcotin Land Use Plan Integration Report mandated the creation of the Cariboo Regional Mule Deer Winter Range Committee to develop mule deer winter range plans and objectives. The committee is made up of resource management experts from the Ministry of Forests and Range, the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, and the Ministry of Environment.
