How to Connect to Web Maps

How to Connect Using Google Earth

To Reference WMS Data

Note: Different WMS Application Viewers will use similar steps but it is recommended that you reference your Viewer guide for specific instructions.

Step 1

  • Select Image Overlay from the Add Menu;

Step 2

  • Select the Refresh Tab, and click on WMS Parameters in the bottom right corner;

Step 3

  • Click on the Add button at the top of the screen, and type in a Web Map Service URL into the box:

Step 4

  • Select the layers you wish to add and click OK:

Step 5

  • Provide your added layers a name (e.g., ILRR Land Act Data) as per green oval below.
  • Edit the link entry by appending (; mode=24bit) as per orange oval below.
    (Note: This step is not required for WMS referencing imagery.)
  • Change the View Bound Scale to a value of 1 as per red oval below.
  • and Click OK
