Wii Lax K'ap means "on (the site of) part of a big flat", situated near Ksi Sii Aks (Tseax River). This was one of the first village sites of the Gitlaxt'aamiks before the volcanic eruption. Ksi Gimwits'ax was the river that came down near the village of Wii Lax K'ap, and later became Ksi Sii Aks (meaning "water (river) flowing out of new water"). New Aiyansh is presently situated on part of the territory of Wii Lax K'ap.
