Zaulzap River adopted 4 November 1948 on 103 NE, as labelled on BC map 3M, 1916. Form of name changed to Zolzap Creek 6 August 1953 on 103 P. Form of name changed to Ksi Ts'oohl Ts'ap per Nisga'a Treaty, Appendix F-3, effective 11 May 2000.

Mr. Calder, MLA Prince Rupert, advises on behalf of his father who was Chief at Aiyansh for many years, that Zol-zap is the local name (names list and Mr. Calder's map, received May & June 1953, file N.1.53).

Ts'oohl Ts'ap means "behind the village site." Ksi, in the context of geographical names refers to "water flowing out (of someplace)." Before the volcanic eruption the river used to flow right by here. An ancient smokehouse site [is] here. Coho, dog salmon, humps and white springs were plentiful in Ksi' Ts'oohl Ts'ap before the eruption.
